Double your Productivity with this Simple Trick

Did you know that you can spend up to 45 mins to resume a major task that got interrupted. By continuously switching from task to task, about 28% of a typical 9 - 5 day is wasted! There are certain mundane tasks that we do daily such as responding to email, calling customers, filing papers, photocopying, errands and what have you that suck up our time. The most time consuming of all these is email.

According to a survey done by Adobe, people spend on average 3.1 hours a day checking and sending at work; that's 15.5 hours a week and 20 weeks in a year! So much time wasted! Now you may be wondering how to curb this. I got a simple trick for you. Let's learn from the printing press.

Assuming that it costs $1000 in a week for a printing press to print 50000 posters. How much and how long you think it will cost them to print 500 posters?

$1000 in a week! Yes you heard right $1000! The cost doesn't change and here's why: The majority of the cost and time goes in preparing the printer. It cost the same amount of resources and labor to prepare the printer for 50000 posters as it is for 500 posters.

I'm sure you see where this is going. As the owner of a printing press, you'll be making huge losses if you setup the printer just for 500 prints. So what do they do? Large orders! Something called BATCHING. That's why printing press will take only large orders like 50000 copies; that's how they make their money.

You too can apply batching with your tasks especially email to make the most return on your time. Instead of responding to email(most of which are useless!) throughout the day and interrupting other major tasks, plan to respond to emails twice a day: at 12pm and 4pm for instance. This will save you a lot of time. The same can be applied to any time consuming repetitive tasks such as phone calls, filing papers, photocopies etc.

One more thing, NEVER EVER check email in the morning. Thanks for reading and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to be immediately notified of more juicy content to improve your life. Check out these other enriching articles below. Until next time, BESTech remains your BEST Bet.
